Hello Everyone,
The Traditional Method: Linking Zoho Forms to Contact Profiles
Previously, linking form submissions with web activity involved multiple steps:
You’d design a form using Zoho Forms and embed it on a site with a tracking code.
Visitors browsing your site were recorded as “Anonymous Visitors” in Web Analytics.
When a form was submitted, a new contact was created in Zoho Marketing Automation, but their web activities remained unconnected.
To unify this data, visitors needed to complete specific forms, such as Signup or Popup forms, or forms on Zoho Marketing Automation’s landing pages.
Once identified, their web activity history was updated, transforming them into “Known Visitors.”
While effective, this method added extra steps that could complicate the process.
The New Approach: Smarter Profile Stitching
With the latest update, integrating Zoho Forms and Zoho Marketing Automation has never been easier:
When a visitor interacts with a Zoho Form embedded on a tracked website, their activity is initially logged as “Anonymous” in Web Analytics.
Upon form submission, Zoho Marketing Automation automatically matches their unique visitor ID (stored in browser cookies) with their contact profile.
Their web activity is instantly added to their contact timeline—no extra steps or forms required.
From that moment, they are recognized as “Known Visitors,” with all future interactions tracked seamlessly.
Important Note: This integration applies only to forms explicitly linked with Zoho Marketing Automation. Other scenarios are not covered.
This streamlined process provides an accurate and comprehensive view of your leads, enabling better engagement and marketing precision.
How Email-Based Profile Stitching Works
Here’s how Zoho Marketing Automation connects email campaigns with web activity:
A tracking snippet is embedded on your website to monitor visitor interactions.
Visitors begin as anonymous users in Web Analytics.
When a visitor becomes a contact (via .csv import, manual addition, or CRM integration), their web activity remains unlinked initially.
If an email campaign includes links to your tracked site, clicking the links pairs the visitor’s cookie-based ID with their contact profile.
Past and future web activities are mapped to their profile, turning them into “Known Visitors” and enriching their journey history.
Why It Matters
This enhanced profile stitching offers several key advantages:
Save Time: Eliminate manual linking and the need for additional forms.
Comprehensive Insights: Instantly view contacts’ website activity alongside their other interactions.
Better Personalization: Use unified data to deliver tailored campaigns and improve audience engagement.
