Zoho Books August 2024 Updates: New Features and Enhancements

We've introduced new features and improvements in Zoho Books this August to enhance your accounting experience. Here's a quick look at what's new.


Updated Reports Permissions  

We’ve strengthened report permissions to improve security. New organizations must grant access to both reports and related modules when creating roles. Existing organizations will be notified to update roles missing these permissions. A "Skip Module Access" option is also available, allowing you to share reports with specific users without giving them full module access.



Create Custom Dashboards

Now, you can fully customize your dashboards with predefined components, marketplace widgets, and reports. You can reorder, edit, delete, and resize dashboard elements. Mark your custom dashboards as favorites and manage user permissions. This feature is available for the Elite and Ultimate plans only.



Migrate to Kenya Edition  [Kenya Edition]


A new migration tool allows you to shift your Zoho Books setup from the Global to Kenya edition effortlessly. If the necessary conditions are met, this tool will appear in your left sidebar. It will help you disable unsupported features and switch taxes to edition-specific ones, ensuring a smooth transition.


Add Dispatch From Address [India Edition]


For businesses with e-Invoicing enabled, you can now add a dispatch address to your invoice and credit note templates. This address is the location from which goods are shipped and can be included in your PDF templates.


To enable, navigate to Settings > Customization > PDF Templates > Invoices/Credit Notes. Edit your template and check the "Show Dispatch From Address" box.



e-Invoice QR Reader App [India Edition]

We’ve launched an e-Invoice QR Reader app for iOS and iPadOS users. This app scans and verifies QR codes on e-invoices according to India’s GST regulations, displaying essential details like the seller’s GSTIN, invoice date, and total amount. The app alerts you if the QR code is invalid.



Wio Bank Integration [United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman Editions]

You can now connect your Wio Bank account to Zoho Books and automatically fetch your bank feeds without needing third-party services. To set it up, go to Banking > Add Bank or Credit Card > Wio Bank PJSC.


VAT Carry Forward [Kenya Edition]

Businesses in Kenya can now carry forward excess VAT from one tax period to the next in the VAT3 return. If your current VAT is refundable, select the carry-forward option, and it will be reflected in Box 17, reducing your future VAT payments.

Late Payment Penalties for VAT [Kenya Edition]

Late VAT payments in Kenya attract a 10% penalty, with an additional 20% for unpaid amounts. Zoho Books now helps track and manage these penalties, recording them separately from VAT payments to ensure your financials are balanced.

TDS Receivables Summary Report  [India Edition]


We’ve introduced a new report summarizing TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) deductions on invoices, debit notes, and other transactions. The report can be grouped by customer or TDS section and helps verify the deductions reported in your Form 26AS. 
To view your Tax Receivables Summary report, go to Reports > Taxes and select TDS Receivables Summary.


Enhanced Barcode Templates

Barcode templates in Zoho Books now support additional fields like MRP (Maximum Retail Price), organization name, company logo, and units (kg, liters, etc.). This helps display item measurement information on your barcodes.


To enable this, go to Settings > Items > Field Customization.



Other Feature Enhancement

  1. You can now search manual journals using custom fields.
  2. Custom formula fields can now be calculated for all records, not just new or edited ones.
  3. Bulk export of manual journals is faster, with files sent directly to your email.
  4. TDS can now be applied to quotes, sales orders, credit notes, and more (India Edition).
  5. MRP can be included when creating or editing items (India Edition).
